"Cunning" James O'Connor

Appearance: O'Connor stands at 5' 11" and weighs a toned 220 pounds. He has black hair down to his ears that frame his face which is pale with bright blue eyes. He comes to the ring in black wrestling boots, gold fighter's shorts and his black "Do You Have The Cunning?" t-shirt. He'll ditch the shirt upon entering the ring, throwing it out to the fans.

Biography: A former MMA midcarder, O'Connor got his big break not in the octagon, but in the DCWL standing in for Naja Takemara at Operation: Plunderland. Not one to pass up an opportunity when its so clearly presented, O'Connor took the crash course in technical wrestling he received and fused it with his MMA repertoire. While he had some growing pains at first, O'Connor has found a rhythm as a fighter and will only improve, thanks to his tireless work ethic.

O'Connor prizes the honor and dignity of fighting above all. He's not as much about wins and losses as much as the respect that comes from doing something well. As such, he's willing to do what it takes, even if it means losing the match, to earn respect and maintain his honor. To James, that means facing an opponent head on, regardless of the circumstances and without excuses.

After a rough start, he began to experience some success. He was the junior member of the reformed "Best of the Best," along with former WWA Champion Logan McKenzie and the Rat - the final DCWL Champion and O'Connor's mentor. During the last ever "Ark of Apocalypse" rumble-type match, James had a minutes-long reign as 1/2 of the DCWL Tag Team Champions. The biggest accomplishment in his career to that point, though, was a PPV victory over WMA (the last major heel DCWL supergroup and BotB rivals) member and SPW executive JDM Superstar. Just as his star seemed to be on the rise, the organization folded. James, though, had found his calling.

After moderate success in TSWF, James came to SPW as a favor SPW General Manager Henry Spikes, his former boss in the DCWL. Though some questioned the rookie's abilities, JOC has sought to silence his critics the best way he knows how - in the ring.  He has since won the Spirit of Wrestling Heavyweight Championship, represented Shootfire as part of Team SPW and in the DCWL's Arkocalypse of Trios as well.  James has feuded viciously with Scott Starring, has a submission fall in a 2/3 falls match against Sammy Knight, and was able to eliminate Luke Kinsey in the Bring Your Own Weapons Rumble at Charity Carnage.

[The opening chords of Pillar's "Throwdown" blast through the arena. Gold lights flash in time with the beat.]


"Light it up!"


[Across the gold screen, three black letters light up to a wave of adulation from the crowd.]

[The video screen blares up the a video of James O'Connor outwrestling a victim flashes up over the glowing screens. Mini Spotlights flash up the scaffolding, circling in the dark chaos of the darkened archway.]


"Training day is over

It's been laid on the line

I've given this all I've got

And I'll have my time to shine"


[Under the letters JOC, the wrestling technician himself steps out of the back. "Cunning" James O'Connor steps up out onto the stage and looks across the arena as a chorus of fans cheer their heads off!!]


"I will settle for no less

Than the best I have to give

Only the strong survive

When they try to take you down"


[James O'Connor surveys the fans from the top of the ramp, raising a fist into the air. He walks purposefully down the aisle, fully intent on the ring. James slows his walk to the ring as the cheers become louder. He wears his black leather jacket and black half tights with a single gold stripe running down each leg, black knee pads and black boots. With a cool look on his face, he stops at ringside and raises a head to stare at the crowd with nothing but a wide eyed amazement. The music crashes around him as he slaps a few hands and heads for the ringsteps. He climbs the stairs and makes his way along the ring apron's edge, dusting his boots in a show of respect.]


"Toe to toe and pound for pound
It's time to step up it's time to throw down!
There's nothing you say that could ever fade me
Serving up another lesson learned
Light it up and let the fire burn"



[James O'Connor stands in the center of the apron glow, illuminated as he raises a fist and yells out, inciting the crowd! Slamming a hand on the belt he runs his mouth. JOC swings a leg and steps into the ring. The lights begin to rise as JOC raises a fist into the air. A striking electric guitar solo blares throughout the packed house leading his entrance theme like the burning fire in O'Connor's's eyes streaming out across the arena.]



"There's nothing you say that could ever change me

Toe to toe and pound for pound

It's time to step up it's time to throw down!"
